Ahead of the upcoming EU elections, the frontrunner of the Party of European Socialists, Nicolas Schmit, who currently serves as the EU Commissioner for Employment and Social Rights, engaged in discussions with the lead candidate of the Social Democratic Party, Katharina Barley, in Berlin on Monday.
Nicolas Schmit emphasized the significance of the elections, stating, “Every election is important. But if we look around us and see the general context, then this election is a very important election.” He highlighted that Europeans participating in the European Parliament elections in June will be faced with a crucial “choice of direction,” impacting not only international relations but also the internal trajectory of Europe.
