According to the defense ministry’s website, Ivanov was appointed to his position in 2016 by presidential decree. He was responsible for overseeing property management, housing, medical support for the military, and construction projects.

Russian media reported that Ivanov was involved in construction projects in Mariupol, a city in Ukraine’s partially occupied Donetsk region. The city was heavily impacted by the conflict with Russian forces.

In 2022, Ivanov was accused by opposition activists of living a lavish lifestyle, including luxury trips abroad, extravagant parties, and elite real estate. Allegations also surfaced regarding his family’s lifestyle and financial activities.
